To ensure the safety of our children, WMAA will exclude from a position of leadership or coaching in all sanctioned activities those persons convicted of a felony, a crime of violence, or a crime against persons. WMAA requires all board of director members, flag football coaches and assistant coaches, travel soccer and basketball head and assistant coaches, and intramural soccer and basketball head coaches to submit to a criminal background check annually. WMAA will not knowingly allow any person convicted of a felony, a crime of violence, or a crime against persons, to be in a position that will allow direct contact with children. In addition, any individual who fails to submit the required screening information for the background check within 30 days of the request will be precluded from participation in all WMAA sanctioned activities until the screening is complete.
This policy is effective February 4, 2010.
